Conservation Laws in Cellular Automata

چکیده

A conservation law in a cellular automaton is the statement of the invariance of a local and additive energy-like quantity. This chapter reviews the basic theory of conservation laws in cellular automata. A general mathematical framework for formulating conservation laws in cellular automata is presented and several characterizations of them are summarized. Computational problems regarding conservation laws (verification and existence problems) are discussed. Microscopic explanations of the dynamics of the conserved quantities in terms of flows and particle flows are explored. The related concept of dissipating energy-like quantities are also addressed.

Towards a Noether – like conservation law theorem for one dimensional reversible cellular automata 1

Evidence and results suggesting that a Noether–like theorem for conservation laws in 1D RCA can be obtained. Unlike Noether’s theorem, the connection here is to the maximal congruences rather than the automorphisms of the local dynamics. We take the results of Takesue and Hattori (1992) on the space of additive conservation laws in one dimensional cellular automata. In reversible automata, we s...

Conservation Laws and Invariant Measures in Surjective Cellular Automata

We discuss a close link between two seemingly different topics studied in the cellular automata literature: additive conservation laws and invariant probability measures. We provide an elementary proof of a simple correspondence between invariant full-support Bernoulli measures and interaction-free conserved quantities in the case of onedimensional surjective cellular automata. We also discuss ...

Conservation Laws in Rectangular CA

A 1D Reversible Cellular Automata (RCA) with forward and backward radius2 neighborhoods is called Rectangular. It was previously conjectured that the conservation laws in 1D Rectangular RCA can be described as linear combinations of independent constant-speed flows to the right or to the left. This is indeed the case; so is a similar statement about a more general class of Rectangular RCA in an...

Construction of Reversible Lattice Molecular Automata

Several cellular automata (CA) models have been developed to simulate self-organization of multiple levels of structures. However, they do not obey microscopic reversibility and conservation laws. In this paper, we describe the construction of a reversible lattice molecular automata (RLMA) model, which simulates molecular interaction and selforganization of higher-order structures. The model’s ...

Some Remarks on A ( 1 ) 1 Soliton Cellular Automata

We describe the A (1) 1 soliton cellular automata as an evolution of a poset. This allows us to explain the conservation laws for the A (1) 1 soliton cellular automata, one given by Torii, Takahashi and Satsuma, and the other given by Fukuda, Okado and Yamada, in terms of the stack permutations of states in a very natural manner. As a biproduct, we can prove a conjectured formula relating these...
